Meet the baker!

Hey! My name is Ruth, the baker behind Lawson Bakes.

For over 13 years, I have worked in the catering industry, working my way up from a catering assistant, to assistant chef, to head baker.

I was made redundant in 2020 and so Lawson Bakes was officially born. I began creating ‘cake boxes’ filled with a selection of different cakes, cookies and pastries, delivering them to the people in my community; but this soon escalated and I was hand delivering cake boxes, across Sheffield, every weekend.

Over the summer of 2020, I made more celebration cakes than I could ever have imagined; I loved every single moment! I also took this time to develop my skills further and I enrolled myself onto a pastry course run by Ravneet Gill and Nicola Lamb.

Since March 2020, I have gone on to make over 150 celebration cakes and have branched into the wedding industry. I love getting to know each individual customer as I create their vision for the special occasion. My heart and soul goes into every bake, I hope my customers can see how passionate I am about my creations.

I’m proud to say that in January 2023, I got married and made my own wedding cakes. I even added the finishing touches to our cakes in my wedding dress! A dream come true!
